Well how has our June 2025 Model Y LR Juniper been doing over the first 5000 miles we had it? Has it been a good upgrade and a worthwhile upgrade over the 2022 Model Y LR? Would I recommend the car and would I recommend to upgrade? Why did I stay with Tesla and rushed off to buy a Chinese or other manufacturers car? Do I regret buying it?
Well the answer is simple! I do not regret buying this car and also it has overdelivered and we are glad we took the 0% offer on the PCP. We rally tested the car to its full potential. But more in the following paragraphs.
So where should I start. Well I might as well start with one of the main reasons why we stayed with Tesla and a Model Y in particular and not a Model 3 Highland. The boot capacity has even a little increases over the older Model Y and has always been impressive. From conifer cuttings to holiday junk – it always swallows up loads of stuff! We even have a small 45l fridge in the boot-well under the boot main compartment. The bootliner has served us now in the third Tesla and fits very well and from that you can see that the Model S bootliner fits in the Model and hence the boot is similar sized tontbe Model Y – incredible.

The new Model Y Junioer has a completely reworked and therefore new suspension. And you can feel it! From speeds of 30mph to 134 on German motorways it is soooo much different to the older Model! So much more forgiving and so much smoother .I would even call it so much closer to Air suspension having driven the Model S for 7 years with gas suspension and recently the Polestar 3.
The interior also feels so much more befitting the car in this price category. LED mood lighting strips and alcantara on doors and other areas are great! I have even added Alcantara in the same colour to the centre console as I hate plastic even if it nicely texturedas in the new Model Y. It still will scratch one day!

So where have we been with our Tesla. Well we went all over and that was exactly what this car was for! We went from Bicester and visited the Tesla Owners Group Supercharged Event in the first week to later on in the summer to Northern Germany. On the way to Germany we went to Kent and visited Margate and Ramsgate and also the lovely gardens of RHS Wisely and Geoff Hamilton‘s Barnsdale Garden (as seen on BBC 2 TV Gardeners World before he retired and unfortunately died ). On our way to Germany we also stayed 2 days in Amsterdam which was great in the summer and also taught us how to use public transport with Google Maps.
However the car is just as good being driven to Pickering and learning about Apples at an openness at RV ROGERS in Pickering or a drive on German Autobahns at 140 MPH and that with an efficiency of 4.2 miles per kWh .
