10,000 Mile Anniversary

How did I almost miss the 10,000 mile Anniversary in our Tesla Model Y Juniper. Well I haven’t as it suddenly dawned on me while having a great day out at a National Trust site called Beningbrough Hall in the North East of England just North of York.

You can look up the details of the Beningbrough Hall history and Visitor information here: https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/yorkshire/beningbrough

It is very well worth a visit and we have been three times (August 2025, March 2026, April 2026) now and even visited over Easter with Grandchildren as they put on a great program for them with Sports Day like games and a treasure hunt.Fir £3.75 you even get an Easter Egg at the end of it!

So how did we fare with our car over the last 10,000 miles? Well noting is broken and biting needed replacing. Well we haven’t three times added and personalised our car a little.

I put on some headrest cushions for £40 from Amazon and a front air intake grille to avoid getting leaves into the aircon ducts. Tesla gave left the air intake rather wide and horizontally open and this addition uses a mesh grille to avoid from falling leaves further down to the aircon ducts and for £21 it is worth it. I also tried to buy a front grille mesh to protect the radiators from stone debris but that has been met with a cancellation of the order by an American seller on Amazon.

I am currently waiting for a recall free upgrade to the brakes that are making a squeeky noise only in the wet! Currently the items are on back orders but it is not a safety risk. Also my appointment was changed to a Mobile appointment which means a Tesla Technician will come out and replace the brakes at my home.

We have had an amazing run of sunshine here in the Northeast of England and charged the car up from solar several times even if you think that we still only have a battery storage of 26kwh and run our house electricity from that including hot water and being able to charge the car. We were cutting it a bit fine for that trip and had the aircon off a few times. But it still managed to be very efficient and we had 30 miles left in the tank at the end of the trip.

I now tend to wash the car after every trip as to not let the flies linger to much and they are getting harder to remove if you leave them to bake on for a few days and I found out new AVA pressure washer really easy to use!! The snow foam bottle and sprayer is brilliant and I am still using only that content now for three washes of the front and it shifts with the soft brush all the debris!

I am looking forward to the next 10,000 miles- hopefully with another trip abroad!
